WELCOME TO YEAR 2

Mrs Udeme Umoren

Year 2 is the last year in Key Stage One, where children develop more independence in their learning. Our varied curriculum, underpinned by the core values, allows every child to achieve and be successful.

Children will be building n their writing skills by starting to write more extended pieces and beginning to think about the impact on their readers. In reading, they will develop fluency and expression and begin to answer inference questions using clues from the text along with their own ideas and thoughts. In maths, they will develop their understanding of place value in two/three digit numbers, add and subtract numbers using the knowledge of their place value and learn their times table facts for the 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables.

In addition to meeting all statutory requirements and challenges, our curriculum is contextualised learning is fun and enriched through arts and visits to places of interest.

OUR CURRICULUM

At St. John’s Primary School, we are passionate about the curriculum and always plan imaginative and creative lessons, with the children at the centre of every decision we make. We want the best for our children, and ensure all lessons are suitably supportive and challenging for all individuals and their needs.

We like the children to be responsible for their own learning, and support them to choose work that will challenge their understanding and extend their knowledge.
