In year 1, we aim to prepare our children for their future learning while also continuing to build upon the solid foundations set in the early years.  We strive to provide a stimulating and happy environment where every child can reach their full potential.

As a phase, we wish to develop our children into independent learners and teach them the key skills which are going to support all of their future development.

Through problem solving, our children have the opportunity to embed their skills and use and apply in different contexts that relate to the children’s interests.

In Year 1, we want each pupil to feel valued and as a team we love to celebrate their achievements together with their families.

At St. John’s Primary School, we are passionate about the curriculum and always plan imaginative and creative lessons, with the children at the centre of every decision we make. We want the best for our children, and ensure all lessons are suitably supportive and challenging for all individuals and their needs.

We like the children to be responsible for their own learning, and support them to choose work that will challenge their understanding and extend their knowledge.
